On the 9th of March 2016, a group of 15 post-graduate students, all trainee teachers in musical education, plus 3 professors from the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University led by Associate Professor Naruth Suttajit visited the Santi Music School. This visit was part of their out-reach program so that they could observe the way in which our Music School functions and as a result, share in our expertise. After a brief welcome and introduction, A.Santi spoke about the history of the school and how the school had received the best assesment results on two separate occasions from the Office of Private Education. Then Professor Jean-Pierre Kirkland talked about his voluntary involvement with the Music School. He mentioned in particular the formal inspection he had carried out some years ago and the School's resultant mission statement. He then outlined his work with the private music group that invited many celebrated world musicians to perform in the School and went on to explain the regular charity work the School is engaged in and his involvement with that aspect. After that, A.Apple demonstrated the use of some of the school's teaching tools. We ended the day with a performance session. Firstly, by live Skype link from China there was a piano performance by a young student, Richard, aged six and a half. Richard also then successfully completed an impressive listening test with A.Santi. Secondly, Thanyamay Weldon played "The Swan" on the piano which was followed by a performance of "Autumn Leaves", a piano duet by A.Santi and A.Apple. Finally, the visiting group sang 3 songs: a traditional Thai melody, their Faculty Song, and ended with an educational-based song. It was such a great pleasure to be their host in Chiangmai.
